Sports in Hackney

The Access to Sports Project deliver a wide range of Sporting Activities for Children and Young People in Hackney, our programme is supported by local community organisations, schools and the London Borough of Hackney.

Activities and projects currently include, Holiday programmes, Volunteering opportunities, coaching sessions, tournaments, coach education and leadership courses and competitive teams.

SESSIONS take place in a range of settings, including;

Millfields Park, Guinness Trust Estate, Stamford Hill Estate, Clissold Leisure Centre, BSix Sixth Form College, Jubilee School, Finsbury Park, Clissold Park, Hackney Downs Park, Skinners Academy, Concorde Young Peoples Centre, The Edge Youth Club, Stoke Newington School, Hindle House Estate and Woodberry Down Estate.

The Access To Sports project (along with SkyWay and Off Centre) has been lucky enough to have been chosen as one of the three Hackney Speaker charities for 2017/18.  We will be doing a number of fundraising events throughout the year to help ensure we can all continue the good work we are doing to deliver positive activities for young people in Hackney.  We will be starting our events on Saturday 2nd September at 4pm when one of our staff members, Sharareh Avazzadeh will  take on the UK’s highest freefall abseil on the UK’s tallest sculpture (ArcelorMittal Orbit, 262 feet above the city) on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park alongside two Hackney Councillors, the Speaker’s Consort, and two people representing Off Centre and SkyWay.

TopHackney Coach Education and Leadership Programme

Gain Qualifications as a Sports Coach .We are offering Hackney residents opportunities to gain qualifications as Sports Coaches, Leaders and Fitness Instructors. Course offered include Football Level 1 & 2, Gym & Fitness Instructor Levels 1&2. The programme is offered Free of Charge or at Subsidised cost (subject to conditions). TopVolunteering Opportunities

Volunteering Placement Opportunities Opportunities to gain coaching experience are on offer with the Access to Sports Project. We are keen to hear from 16-19 year olds to help out with the running of teams, officiating, assisting head coaches at sessions and helping to promote our programmes.
