EC1 Sports

The EC1 sports project rose like a phoenix from the flames as a legacy from the EC1 ‘New Deal’ programme. The sports project has been working with hard to reach groups in south of Islington, engaging young people through various sports, including; football, basketball, cricket, girls football, badminton among others. The EC1 sports project is an example of progressive partnership working and targeted initiatives, utilising sports to engage young people through sport and physical activity.

The project runs in local youth centers, estates, parks and local leisure facilities and is aimed at young people ages 8-16. The project was recently nominated for sports islington organization of the year award 2012. The project runs a full term time programme throughout the year and also runs a sports camp during school holidays and has its own EC1 Youth football team which plays in the Camden and Islington youth league.
